Cadillacquer - A Dragon Is Not A Slave

Idag visar jag mitt första och hittills enda lack från indiemärket Cadillacquer, A Dragon Is Not A Slave från deras Game of Thrones-inspirerade kollektion Dreams and Dust. Det är ett blygrått lack med rosa/orange skimmer och en mjuk holografisk effekt. Lite tunt i formulan kanske, men täcker på tre lager. Ett mycket trevligt lack, men helt omöjligt att få bra bilder på. Mycket finare i verkligheten kan jag ju säga. Sen är det ju ingen hemlighet att jag är galen i GoT/A Song of Ice and Fire, laddar för fullt inför säsong 6 nu och läser böckerna så länge, så det bidrar ju kanske till att jag gillar detta så mycket ;)

Today I'm showing you my first and (so far) only polish from the indie brand Cadillacquer, A Dragon is Not a Slave from the Game of Thrones inspired collection Dreams and Dust. It's a grey polish with pink/orange shimmer and a soft holographic effect. The formula was a little on the thin side, but covers in three coats. A really pretty polish, but sooo difficult to get decent photos of. It's a lot nicer in real life. Also it's no secret that I'm crazy about Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, really looking forward to the premiere of season 6 and I'm reading the books in the meantime, so I might be a little biased ;)

OPI - Give Me Space

Idag hoppar jag in på Blå Måndag med väldigt färska bilder, har faktiskt det här lacket på naglarna i skrivande stund. Jag börjar snart ha testat färdigt alla lack jag köpte ur OPIs Starlight-kollektion, och som vanligt blir det så att det lack jag var mest sugen på blir kvar till bland de sista. Undrar varför det blir så jämt?

Nåja, Give Me Space var alltså ett av lacken som intresserade mig mest när kollektionen släpptes, och det gjorde mig inte besviken. En härlig blå jellybas med mjukt holografiskt skimmer i. Det bildar inga regnbågar, men det syns att det inte är ett vanligt silverskimmer och ger fint djup. Påminner en hel del om en annan favorit hos mig, Dream från Zoya, fast med mer finfördelat och diskret skimmer. Två lager gav fin täckning. Upplevde dock att det chippade snabbt, men är osäker på om det beror på lacket eller andra omständigheter. Tummen upp för detta!

Today I'm joining Blue Monday with a polish that's actually on my nails right now. I'm almost done with testing all the polishes I purchased from the OPI Starlight collection, and as usual the ones I look forward to the most when placing the order end up being the ones I try on last... Wonder why that always happens?

Anyway, Give Me Space was one of the polishes I was most excited about, and it did not disappoint. It's a lovely blue jelly base filled with soft holographic shimmer. You don't get full-on rainbows on your nails with this one, but you can definitely tell that it's not just a plain silver shimmer and it gives a lot of depth to this polish. It reminds me of Dream from Zoya, another favourite of mine, but the shimmer is more subtle in Give Me Space. Two coats covered nicely. I did experience some chipping pretty quickly, but I'm not sure if it's because of the quality of the polish or if it's the general condition of my nails right now. I give this one a thumbs up!

Cirque - Mink

Hej på er! Hoppas ni har det bra, själv njuter jag av lite långhelg. Har i princip inte gjort någonting alls idag förutom att spela Fallout, hehe, men skönt med dagar utan måsten också.

Och lite lack ska jag väl lyckas med att visa idag också, i det här fallet Mink från Cirque. Även detta snappade jag upp på Edgys rea och det var ett köp jag var väldigt nöjd med måste jag säga. Ett riktigt trevligt chokladbrunt hololack med ganska starka regnbågar, täckte fint på två lager. Höstigt och fint, och passande då när jag bar det i början av november. Här visar jag det i lite olika ljusförhållanden. Mitt första Cirque-lack, men förmodligen inte mitt sista!

Hi! Hope you've enjoyed your Saturday so far, I am really enjoying having a few extra days off. I have practically done nothing today except for playing Fallout haha, but it's been pretty nice.

I'll show you a polish as well, in this case Mink from Cirque. I bought this one from the Edgy Polish sale a few months ago and I was very happy with it. It's a pretty chocolate brown holographic with pretty strong rainbows, and it covered nicely in two coats. It does remind me of fall and it fit well with the season as I wore this in the beginning of November. Here I'm showing it in different types of lighting. My first polish from Cirque, but probably not the last!

Hej på er! Lite nail art idag, eller ja om det kan kallas för det, lite dekaler blir det i alla fall. Jag ville hotta upp min befintliga manikyr med Meet Me In The Glade från Powder Perfect, så jag bestämde mig för att lägga på lite vattendekaler i form av vita blommor (#17640) från Born Pretty Store som jag fått utskickat för recension för en tid sedan. Resultatet ser ni nedan, de två första bilderna är tagna i sol och de två sista är tagna i ljustältet.

Hi! Some nail art today, if I can call it that, some decals at least. I wanted to spice up my manicure with Meet Me In The Glade from Powder Perfect that I showed you a few days ago, so I added these white flower water decals (#17640) from Born Pretty Store that I was sent for review a while ago. The result is below, the first two photos are taken in the sun and the last two are taken in my light box.

Dekalerna var bra, som ni ser är de täckande även på en mörk bas som denna. Stör mig lite på att de största dekalerna (som ni ser på mitt långfinger) har en blomma som ser lite avklippt ut, så var alla dekalerna i den storleken men ja, det är nog inget som man lägger märke till om det inte synas jättenoga. Jag gillade hur den här manikyren blev, var lite rädd att det skulle se för somrigt ut med blommorna men tyckte ändå det blev höstmysigt med den lite murriga basfärgen. Jag är förtjust i vattendekaler överlag, de är lätta att använda, går fort och ger ett fint resultat oftast. Dessa är inget undantag.

These decals were good, as you can see they are opaque even on a dark base like this. It does bother me a little that the bigger ones (which you can see on my middle finger) have one flower that looks a bit "cut off", all of the decals of that size were like that. But I don't think people will notice from a distance. I like how this mani turned out, I was a bit scared that it would look to summery, but I think it still had a nice autumn feel with the darker base. I like water decals in general, they are easy to use and usually give nice results. These are no exception.

Powder Perfect - Meet Me in the Glade

Hallå! Idag visar jag Meet Me In The Glade från Powder Perfects Hardwicke-kollektion som jag införskaffade från höstrean på Edgy Polish. Det här är riktigt fint höstlack, det är rost-/vinrött med röda och guldfärgade flakes och ett lätt holografiskt skimmer. I svagare ljus syns flakesen bättre, och i starkare så poppar holoskimret fram. Två lättmålade lager har jag här. En aning knöligt blev det dock, inte 100% slätt och glansigt med ett lager topplack så är ni känsliga så kanske ni får dra på ett till, jag nöjde mig med ett dock. Detta lack finns fortfarande kvar på Edgys rea, ni hittar det här!

Hello! Today I'm showing you Meet Me In The Glade from Powder Perfect's Hardwicke collection which I picked up from the Edgy Polish fall sale. It's a lovely polish for fall, a rusty/wine red with red and golden flakes and a soft, scattered holographic shimmer. In lower lighting the flakes are more visible, and in stronger light the holo comes out beautifully. Two easy coats here. It did not look completely smooth and glossy with only one coat of top coat, so you might have to use two coats. I felt satisfied with one though. Glam Polish - Bad Hair Day

Idag blir det lite långt inlägg, då jag tänkte visa er ett lack som inte bara är galet fint, det är också för en god sak. Bad Hair Day från Glam Polish släpptes tidigare denna månad som ett limited edition-lack för att uppmärksamma sjukdomen Alopecia Areata, och då jag själv har denna sjukdom så låg det såklart mig nära om hjärtat. Alopecia är en autoimmun sjukdom där kroppens immunsystem låter hårsäckarna gå in i vilostadiet, och håret faller av. Det går så vitt jag vet inte att bota, och man vet inte riktigt varför vissa drabbas.

Jag fick alopecia när jag var 16 år, en dag så hade håret bara ramlat av i en stor fläck på bakhuvudet. Nu efter några år så har det vuxit tillbaka hår runt om fläcken så den har blivit lite mindre, men den finns fortfarande kvar. På mig syns det kala nästan inte alls när det andra håret hänger i vägen som tur är, och nuförtiden tänker jag knappt på att fläcken finns där, men risken finns ju att håret faller av igen på något annat ställe och då får jag kanske överväga att använda peruk. Den här sjukdomen gör inte ont eller så, det är egentligen "bara" utseendet som drabbas, men jag förstår hur jobbigt det måste vara för dem som tappar håret i större och mer synliga fläckar än jag, eller på hela huvudet/kroppen.

Lacket då? Ja det är verkligen vackert. Det är en supersnygg marinblå färg med spridd holoeffekt samt holografiska microglitter i mörkblått, mellanblått och silver. Helt magiskt i solen eller i starkare ljus. Två enkla lager för full täckning. Lite knöligt blev det, jämnade ut sig rätt bra med ett lager överlack men hade nog behövt ett lager till dagen efter. Det här är mitt första lack från Glam och jag är inte besviken. Så, förlåt om jag uppehållit er med flera mil med text, kompenserar med bildspam också och tänk er ungefär 100x mer holosprak i verkligheten :) Och kika in hos Emelie, det är ju Blå Måndag idag!

It will be a rather long post today, as I'm showing you a polish which is both super pretty and made for a good cause. Bad Hair Day from Glam Polish was released earlier this month as a limited edition shade to raise awareness and funds for Alopecia Areata, and since I suffer from this condition myself, I really wanted to get this polish. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease in which people lose their hair from some or all areas of the body, usually the scalp. There is no known cure, and it is unclear why some people are affected and why some are not.

I found out that I had Alopecia when I was 16, one day some of my hair had just fallen off, creating a big bald patch on the back of my head. Now, after a few years, some of the hair has grown back around it so the patch is smaller, but it's still there. It's not very visible on me since I can cover it with my healthy hair, but there is a risk that the hair loss will occur in other places on my scalp, and then I might have to consider using a wig instead. Alopecia does not hurt, it "only" affects your looks, but I understand how tough it must be for those who lose more hair than me, or all the hair on their scalps and bodies.

So what's the polish like? It's really beautiful! A lovely marine blue with scattered holo plus navy blue, medium blue and silver holographic glitters. It's pure magic in the sun or in stronger lighting. Two easy coats for full coverage. Not super smooth, it was okay after one coat of top coat, but I should probably have added another the day after. It's my first polish from this brand and I was not disappointed! So, I'm sorry for this wall of text, I compensate it with a wall of photos too haha. But buy it if you can, it's so much sparklier in real life :) And take a look at Emelie's blog, it's Blue Monday today after all!

Mentality - Electrify (and some advice needed)

Hej på er! Innan jag berättar om dagens lack så måste jag rådfråga er läsare som också använder nagellack flitigt. Igår kväll målade jag på ett annat lack (Mentality Extirpate), men när jag vaknade imorse så gjorde det så sjukt ont i mina nagelbäddar! Liksom en brännande, ömmande känsla under hela naglarna på alla fingrar, och det blev ännu värre om jag tryckte lite på naglarna. Tog bort lacket nu på morgonen och det gjorde fruktansvärt ont bara att gå över dem med remover och bomull... Har nakna naglar nu och den ihållande smärtan har minskat nu några timmar senare men naglarna känns fortfarande varma (typ inflammation) och det gör fortfarande ont om jag trycker på dem, och huden under nageln ser liksom ljusare ut någon millimeter från den fria kanten. Är det någon som varit med om något liknande eller vet vad det kan handla om? Har använt samma bas- och topplack som jag annars gör, det enda som var nytt är Mentality-lacket men vet inte om det beror på det... Vågar hur som helst inte måla på nytt lack så länge det gör ont och ser konstigt ut.

Nåväl, ett annat Mentalitylack här i alla fall, och hade inga problem när jag bar detta. Electrify kom med sommarens Neon Holos-släpp, och är en fin mellanblå nyans med lätt holoskimmer. Det är en färgstark blå, om än inte neon. Holoskimret ger det ett fint djup, men det bildar inte direkt några regnbågar. I sol anar jag lite holoeffekt, försökte fånga det med mobilkameran men det gick väl sådär. Blev ganska fläckigt på första lagret men tror det kan ha berott på mitt baslack, får man första lagret jämnt så räcker två lager men jag hade lite kala fläckar ännu så fick ta tre. Torkar semimatt så jag har lagt på överlack här. Jättefint lack verkligen! Köpte mitt på Edgy Polish.

Hi guys! Before I start talking about today's polish I need some advice from you... Yesterday I painted on a different polish (Mentality Extirpate), and when I woke up this morning my nail beds hurt so much! Like a burning, very sore sensation under the nails of all fingers, and it got a lot worse if I applied pressure to them. I removed the polish this morning and it hurt terribly just by going over them with polish remover and a cotton pad... I've got naked nails now and the constant pain has gone down a little, but the nails still feel warm to the touch (like an inflammation) and the tiniest bit of pressure to them still makes them hurt a lot. The skin also looks lighter under the nails closest to the free edge. Has anyone else experienced anything like this, or know what this might be? I used the same topcoat and base coat as I usually do, the only thing new was the Mentality polish but I'm not sure if that is what caused it... I don't dare to put on new polish until the pain is gone.

Anyway, here's a different Mentality polish for you, and I didn't experience any problems while I was wearing this. Electrify was released with the Neon Holos collection and it's a lovely and bright (although not really neon) medium blue with a light holo shimmer. The shimmer gives it a lot of depth, but it does not create any rainbows on the nails. In the sun I can see a tiny bit of rainbow sparkle, I tried to capture it with my cell phone camera but I did not succeed that well. It was rather patchy on the first coat (which might have been because of my base coat). If you manage to get the first coat fairly even you can get away with two coats, but I needed three to cover some bald spots. It dries semi matte so I've added top coat here. It's really beautiful! I purchased mine from Edgy Polish.

Smitten Polish - A Shimmer of Hummingbirds

Vi tar och kikar på fint Smitten-lack från Flights of Fancy-kollektionen denna Gröna Onsdag! A Shimmer of Hummingbirds är ett jättevackert ljusgrönt holo som bildar snygga och ganska ordentliga regnbågar. Lättarbetad, flyter på bra på nageln och kräver ingen aqua fix-bas, vilket jag gillar. Jag har överlack på bilderna och det tog inte bort någon holoeffekt. Däremot så höll detta ganska dåligt, vilket kanske inte är en helt ovanlig egenskap hos holosar. Detta är ju väldigt somrigt och fint och jag bar det på midsommarafton, vi hade riktigt bra väder då, kul för sol är ju nästan ett måste med den här typen av lack! Halvdåliga bilder dock, var stressad iväg på lunch.

Let's take a look at a lovely Smitten polish from the Flights of Fancy collection this Green Wednesday! A Shimmer of Hummingbirds is a beautiful light green holo with pretty strong linear rainbows. Easy to apply, goes on smoothly on the nail and it does not require an aqua fix base, which always is a plus. I've applied top coat in my photos and it did not dull the holographic effect. It did not last very well though, which is not too uncommon for holographic polishes. It's a lovely and summery polish and I actually wore it for Midsummer's Eve, we had really nice weather then, which was great. Sun is almost a must for this type of polish. My photos are not the best though, I had to snap them in a hurry because we were going away for lunch.

Smitten Polish - A Parliament of Owls

Hoppas ni haft en bra helg! Idag har jag inte gjort så mycket annat än varit ute på en springtur, ska ägna resten av den åt fortsatt jobbsökande, tvätt och lite övrigt städ och fix här hemma. Solen kikade fram i morse så jag målade raskt om till ett av de fina hololacken från Smittens Flights of Fancy-kollektion, A Parliament of Owls. Jättefin färg, en dämpad, ljus kopparorange med fin linjär holoeffekt. Tycker såna här mer neutrala holos kan vara så himla fina, dämpade och stilrena i skugga och så kommer de verkligen till liv när ljuset faller på. På mina bilder har jag två lättmålade lager, inget överlack.

Hope you've had a nice weekend! Today I haven't done much, went for a morning run but that's about it. I will spend the rest of it applying for more jobs, and doing some laundry and cleaning. The sun peeked out this morning so I took the opportunity to try out one of the Smitten holos from the Flights of Fancy collection, this one is called A Parliament of Owls. Beautiful colour, a muted copper-orange with a nice linear holographic effect. I like these types of neutral holos, they are very work-appropriate and stylish in lower lighting and then they really come to life in the sun. Two easy coats in my photos, no top coat.

Smitten Polish - The First Lobster

Underbara fredag! Jag firar med ett lite extra fint lack idag, The First Lobster från Smitten Polish. Det kom med Love Actually-kollektionen men jag minns inte riktigt när, vet bara att jag velat ha detta ett bra tag men nu är det i min ägo :) Det är en riktigt härlig röd som drar lite åt orange, och så en jättefin linjär holografisk effekt på det. Formulan var ren perfektion, superlätt att arbeta med. Två lättmålade lager på mina bilder. Kärlek på flaska! Jag har shoppat min flaska på Edgy Polish, dock verkar just detta lack inte finnas kvar längre tyvärr.

Wonderful Friday! I'm celebrating with an extra pretty polish today, The First Lobster from Smitten Polish. It was released with the Love Actually collection, but I don't remember exactly when, I just know that I've wanted it for quite some time and now I've got it! It's a lovely red which pulls a little bit orange, and it has a beautiful linear holographic effect. The formula is pure perfection, super easy to work with. Two easy coats + top coat in my photos. Love in a bottle! I bought my bottle from Edgy Polish, but unfortunately it does not seem to be available anymore.

ILNP - Cygnus Loop (H) [Revisited]

Hej på er! Snart ska jag iväg och jobba, har en lite hektisk helg men idag får jag inte missa att blogga. Bloggen fyller nämligen ett år idag, hipp hipp hurra! Det trodde jag faktiskt inte när jag började, gjorde det mest för skojs skull och för att testa på litegrann. Tiden går fort när man har roligt!

Dagen till ära så tänkte jag göra ett återbesök hos det lack som dök upp i mitt allra första inlägg här, Cygnus Loop (H) från ILNP (I Love Nail Polish). Ett av deras supermultikroma Ultra Chrome-lack som var himla poppis på alla bloggar ett tag förra året. Det här är varianten som även har en lätt scattered holo-effekt. Rejäla färgskiftningar i detta, även om det är svårt att fånga alla på bild. Jag ser mest blått, lila, magenta, samt en orange/kopparfärg, och kanske lite grönt också. Holoeffekten finns där också och är väldigt fin, även om det inte är den starkaste effekten jag sett. För mycket holo hade nog förstört färgskiftningarna en del dock. Här har jag tre lager på egen hand, första lagret blev lite ojämnt med kala fläckar men det andra och tredje lagret var lättmålat. Det ursprungliga inlägget hittar ni här, jag tycker definitivt mina foton blivit bättre sedan dess. Kul att se lite utveckling! Varning för bildspam nu, ville få med alla skiftningar och nyanser!

Hi! Hope you're all well and that your weekend has been good so far. I'm going to work soon I've got a pretty busy weekend but I can't skip on writing this post for you, as the blog turns one year old today, hip hip hooray! I did not think that it would when I started doing this, as I just wanted to try it out for fun. Time flies!

Today I'm going to show you the same polish that I showed you in my very first blog post, Cygnus Loop (H) from indie brand ILNP (I Love Nail Polish). This is one of their Ultra Chrome polishes that were all the rage on a lot of blogs last year. This is a very pretty multichrome polish with a scattered holo effect. The colour shift is very strong, but as usual not the easiest to capture in photos. I see mostly blue, purple, magenta and a coppery orange colour, perhaps some green too. The holographic effect is really nice but not the strongest, but too much holo would have ruined the colour shift I think. I'm wearing three coats on its own here, it was a bit patchy on the first coat but good with the second and third coat. My original post can be found here (in Swedish only, sorry), I definitely think my photos have improved since last year! This post was rather picture heavy, hope you don't mind. Really wanted to show the beauty of this polish :)
